special event: international legends day

The 2004 Senior World Championships will attract more than 1000 men and women, ages 55-90, competing in the traditional five-year age increments.  In addition to the World Singles and Doubles Championships in those age groups, each country will participate in an international team-age-group Davis Cup type competition.

To kick off the two weeks of this spectacular tennis, we are proud to offer players and observers the thrill of a lifetime:

“International Legends Day”

Monday September 13, 2004

The Philadelphia Cricket Club

This all day showcase of both men’s and mixed doubles will match up some of the all-time greatest tennis players.  Invited participants include:

  • Ian Crookenden

  • Owen Davidson

  • Colin Dibley

  • Tom Gorman

  • Bob Lutz

  • Gardnar Mulloy

  • John Newcombe

  • Marty Riessen

  • Ken Rosewall

  • Pancho Segura

  • Stan Smith

And an equally impressive group of women legends.

Each player will play two sets of doubles (more if desired), and the team winner will be determined by total sets won…and crowd applause!  Come out for more than a walk down memory lane.  Witness the pure talent, the artistry and the good humor that makes these legends your favorites!
