Martina Navratilova and Fred Stolle
To Receive Danzig and Johnston Awards Discounted tickets available to USIC members to attend awards presentation and HOF Gala
The USIC will honor 2009 Danzig Trophy recipient Martina Navratilova
and 2009 Johnston Trophy recipient Fred Stolle at the International
Tennis Hall of Fame "Legends Ball" on Friday, September 11, 2009.
Discounted tickets are available to USIC members to attend the event, which also serves as the USIC Annual Dinner. The Legends Ball will be held at Cipriani 42nd Street in the Bowery Bank Building, opposite the Grand Hyatt. Cocktails will begin at 6:30 p.m. followed by dinner and dancing. The dress is "festive, black tie optional". The Annual Meeting of USIC members will be held prior to the USIC Annual Dinner at the Grand Hyatt Hotel at 5:00 p.m. (More information below.)
Any member who has attended this dinner in the past as a patron
of the International Tennis Hall of Fame must pay the full Hall
of Fame ticket price of $750.00 for the 2009 dinner. However,
any member who has never attended this dinner or who has
attended this dinner previously as a member of the USIC, is
invited to attend with a spouse and guests for the special price
of $350.00 per person. The Legends Ball requires the USIC to
obtain 20 RSVP's to receive the discounted ticket price.

The cost for USIC members is $350 per person (more than a 50% ticket discount) and is only available for USIC members who did not historically attend the Hall of Fame dinners before the USIC dinner was combined with the Hall of Fame event. the game's most prolific winner of the open era--probably ever--Martina
Navratilova, the puissant left-hander, won 18 Grand Slam singles
titles, 31 Grand Slam women's doubles titles (an all-time record), and
10 Grand Slam mixed doubles titles. She reached the Wimbledon singles
final 12 times, including nine consecutive years from 1982 through 1990,
and won the women's singles title at Wimbledon a record nine
times. Navratilova and Billie Jean King each have won 20 Wimbledon
titles, an all-time record.Navratilova is one of just three women to have accomplished a career Grand Slam in singles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles (called the Grand Slam "boxed set"). She holds the open era record for most singles titles (167) and doubles titles (177). She recorded the longest winning streak in the open era (74 consecutive matches). Navratilova, Margaret Court, and Maureen Connolly Brinker share the record for the most consecutive Grand Slam singles titles (six). Navratilova reached 11 consecutive Grand Slam singles finals, second all-time to Steffi Graf's 13. In women's doubles, Navratilova and Pam Shriver won 109 consecutive matches and won all four Grand Slam titles in 1984. They also tied Louise Brough Clapp's and Margaret Osborne duPont's record of 20 Grand Slam women's doubles titles as a team. No one has ever compiled such a glittering trove of numbers. As a pro since 1973, she played the most singles tournaments (380) and matches (1,650), and won the most titles (167) and matches (1,438) with a won-lost mark of 1,438-212. Stolle ranks seventh on the all-time list of tennis champions. A
member of Australia's Davis Cup teams from 1964 until 1967, he won 13 of
the 14 matches while playing on four victorious teams. His tremendous
talents earned him the ranking of number one in the world in 1966.Emblazoned with the nickname "Fiery," he won the singles title at the French and U.S. Open, was twice a singles finalist at the Australian Open and was three times a singles finalist at Wimbledon. Stolle's dynamic doubles skills are reflected in his 16 Grand Slam victories, including the U.S. Open men's doubles, two U.S. Open mixed doubles, two Wimbledon men's doubles, three Wimbledon mixed doubles, two French Open men's doubles plus three men's doubles and one mixed doubles at the Australian Open. Stolle's off-court career continues to be a smashing success. He is an international television commentator and analyst and president and founder of Grand Slam Sports Marketing.
